Our Sailing Experience
\On May 1st my class and I went to a 20 minute trip to Okahu Bay to go sail using a optimist and topaz (two types of boats).
When we got there we started our day of sailing with learning how to rig our boats and how to control the small vessels. After we had an idea of how to control our boat, we set off to put on our damp wetsuits and buoyancy vest. We used the buoyancy vest so that we were able to float in the deep ocean and we use the wetsuits for warmth in the cold water. Finally, after all of that we departed from land and set forth onto the ocean. Most of our sailing time we were just following our three sailing mentors (aka mother ducks). However, after lunch I switched partners and we embark on an adventure of capsizing in the deep water. We also used our skill of flipping our boat up right again, which we had learnt when we were learning how to control the boat.
After the day of sailing I was glad to go home where I could sleep peacefully in my room. I enjoyed the day and I wish I was able to relive those moments. I mostly enjoyed capsizing because we were able to swim around in the sea.
I give lots of thanks to Lion Foundation, Rotary, Volvo and Zhik for sponsoring the day.
